Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)

Deactivation Notice of the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Major Awards at both Levels 5 and 6 and associated minor component modules.

QQI have announced their intention to deactivate the 5M2009 and 6M2007 ECCE Major Awards at the end of December 2023. This means that all minor components leading to these specific awards, at both levels 5 and 6, will also be deactivated.

As a direct consequence, Kilroys College will not be in a position to accept learners for these component modules after 15th August 2023, and no extensions can be facilitated beyond the end of the module duration, as no extension on these modules will be possible. This will impact all of our QQI Childcare modules.

Learners should only commence these modules with a view to attaining the Major award if they can complete all modules by 15th November 2023 in order to facilitate certification of their award.

It is important to note that the qualifications attained will still be relevant and fully acceptable within the Department of Children, Equality, Diversity, Integration, and Youth (DCEDIY), and that learners who have their major award completed successfully will not be required to complete the new ELC award which will replace the ECCE award.

Learners who have some of the components completed may wish to consider completing the remaining modules within the relevant timeframe in order to complete their major award to ensure all previously completed components can be used.
